I live in Alaska, so there is no need to explain the winter conditions. My place of employment was informed of Rip’s Cleats™ and we decided to try them out. I bought them 5 years ago while recovering from an injury and knew that I could not afford to fall. At the time, the purchase was a splurge, but they were worth every penny. They have been my constant companion over the last 5 winters. I keep them on my boots and rotate them easily around my foot, in and out of position when needed, as I go from indoors to out. The position of the spikes is brilliant – right where you need it for secure footing in the center of the foot, so that they don’t get in the way with the rest of your stride, allowing you to walk almost completely normally. I always recommend them to friends (most of whom have also become vocal advocates of these cleats) and even strangers who grumble about the poor performance of the other traction devices they have on their feet. After 5 years the spikes are still sharp (I’ve been careful to avoid pavement and rocks). I’m looking forward to many more years of loyal service from my Rip’s Cleats.
